Croatia

The law also grants a package of exemptions: on import duty for household goods and a vehicle, on property transfer tax, on the tax on dividends and interest from Dominican sources, and partial relief on property tax. It is Caribbean, so it is warm year round, it is two and a half hours from Miami, and the north coast around Sosúa and Cabarete has hosted a foreign community for forty years. The trade-offs are hurricane exposure, infrastructure that includes frequent power interruptions outside the resort areas, and healthcare that is good in Santo Domingo and Santiago and limited elsewhere.
