Dominican Republic
The Dominican Republic runs the quickest retirement residency in the Americas. Under Law 171-07 a pensionado with 1,500 dollars a month of pension income is fast-tracked to permanent residency, commonly in a couple of months rather than the year or more that Costa Rica or Uruguay take. The law also grants a package of exemptions: on import duty for household goods and a vehicle, on property transfer tax, on the tax on dividends and interest from Dominican sources, and partial relief on property tax.
